The Union Cabinet on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) decided to celebrate 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” throughout India.

Briefing reporters on the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet, the Minister of the Union Ashwini Vaishnaw said that, given the role played by the song playing during the Freedom Fight, a decision to celebrate national countries was taken to mean 150 years.
According to the “India.gov” portal, Vande Mataram was composed in Sanskrit Bankimchandra Chatterji. He has the same status with the national anthem “Jan Gan Man”.
