15 major intersections in Nellore will be upgraded at a cost of ₹5.26 crore

As part of the city beautification measure, 15 interchanges will be constructed and fountains installed in Nellore at a cost of ₹5.26 crore. Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana laid the foundation stone for these works here on Saturday.

He also paid tribute to important personalities by decorating their statues at these intersections. Former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao’s statue has been installed at Narthaki Center and work has started on statues of BR Ambedkar at VRC, Mahatma Gandhi at Trunk Road, AC Subba Reddy at AC Centre, Swamy Vivekananda at Azad Centre, Puchalapalli Sundaraiah at Kanakamahal Centre, Zakiramawar, Gpuramenkasa at Gpuramenkasa. Mr. Narayana said the work on fountains at 14 more intersections where the foundation stones were laid would be completed soon. He mentioned that the Arya Vysya community had requested to relocate the statue of Potti Sriramulu in the center of the Atmakur bus stand and added that if a consensus was reached, the statue would be moved.

He further announced that preparations for the modernization of 17 state schools in the city had been completed. Work is currently underway on eight schools, with three already developed to international standards and inaugurated. All arrangements were set to lay the foundation stones for the next three schools.

Talking about development works across the state, Mr. Naryana said, “The Chief Minister has allocated ₹50,000 crore for the development of 123 villages and projects worth ₹23,000 crore have already been started. We are carrying out more work beyond the poll promises. Arrangements are being made to ensure that every household gets a tap connection in December.”
