Almost 147 children were rescued from begging, binding and children’s work in the last year through special raids across the SPSR Nellore district. Of the total number of children rescued, 79 were involved in begging, 60 in children’s work and eight for ties.
63 children who participated in begging were sent to government schools and continued their education while others are breastfeeding. Through the children’s care department, they were given accommodation in a safe environment, such as Vatsalya’s Home, Viswajnani Home and Sishugruh’s children on the basis of their age. Some of them were handed over to their parents.
Children rescued from the associated and children’s work were also admitted to schools. He was given “orders” by a divisional officer (RDO), a financial assistance of 30,000 GBP from the Ministry of Labor and 4,000 GBP per month within the special sponsorship system.
The District Collector O. Anand said in an interview with the Hindu: “To remove the child’s begging, tied work and children’s work, a committee with officials of the District Child Care and various line departments was established.
Suresh Kumar, a district official for the protection of children (DCPO), reported that he provides financial support to the rescued children through the Vatsalya mission, a system sponsored by a central government that focuses on children’s rights, protection and development. As part of this scheme, 27 children have already received sponsorship, while 24 others will receive soon.
