
The Thrissur Rural Police, under Operation D and Part 2025–2026 School Security Campaigns, confiscated 125 kg of Ganja on Friday, which was smuggled from Odisha to the central Kerala in a truck.
Four people were arrested during the surgery under the supervision of Thrissur Range Dig Harishanker and led Thrissur Rural SP B. Krishnakumar.
Ganja kept in the bags and hid under the sheet leaves in the truck was confiscated during a special highway check. The arrests were reportedly part of a well -organized interstate network for drug trafficking.
The accused were identified as AShlin, 25, and Taris, 36, both from Alangad, Aluva, ‘Kingini’ Shijo, 31, from Cherumkuzhi, Peechi and Jabira, 30, from Thrikkadeeri, Cherpulasers, Palakkad.
Taris is the main accused in several criminal cases, including murder in Aluva, and a robbery bushing in Chalakuda 2022, where the group brutally attacked travelers who confused them with gold smugglers. He has been under police supervision for a week, which eventually led to the seizure of Ganja.
Shijo faces fees in more than 12 cases, including ATMs and more cases of drug trafficking in districts. Ashlin is reportedly accompanied by Taris in the case of a robbery on the highway.
Jabir is the main accused of a seizure of 167.5 kg Ganja in Malappurama, in which he escaped only a day before conviction. In such a case, the Court of Manjeri condemned all the accused and issued a 30 -year sentence. Jabir has an active observation circle (LP order) against him.
The seizure was created by a joint team that consisted of officers from the DYSP office in Chalakuda and the Pudukkad police.
Police launched a probe into a smuggling route and examined where the smuggling path could be distributed and how much left in circulation. Mobile phone records and other digital evidence are examined.
