122 cannabis plants were seized in two raids in Adilabad district

In the ongoing crackdown on ganja cultivation, police seized 122 ganja plants in two separate raids in Adilabad district on Friday. The police estimated the value of the seized plants at around ₹12.20 crore.

According to police, a raid at Sonpalli village in Ichoda mandal led to the seizure of 98 cannabis plants grown in the backyard of a house belonging to Todasam Muya (78). The police arrested him under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In another case, the police seized 24 cannabis plants grown in a cotton field at Rampur village in Gadiguda mandal.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against cultivator Gedam Rajeshwar (38) of Rampur.

The police said they would advise the relevant ministries to stop providing benefits under government schemes to growers of banned crops.
