Rajasthan Royals premiership fast bowler Jofra Archer had a terrible time in the power play against Gujarat Titans on Saturday, May 9. Playing at their home ground, Rajasthan had a terrible start to the match. Archer, who has been doing exceptionally well in the Indian Premier League so far, conceded 17 runs in the first match.
The fans and even the announcers were stunned that Archer, who is exceptional with his line and length, sprayed the ball everywhere. Archer played four wickets and no ball, stretching the over to 11 deliveries.

He was constantly drifting down the side of the batter, unable to control the swing that extracted the ball early in the game.
To make matters worse, Archer delivered perhaps one of the biggest no-balls of this season’s IPL, raising eyebrows at a time when betting applications and corrupt practices are under intense debate in the league.
After bowling that huge ball, Archer bowled three wide balls, one of which was so far down the leg side that it went for the boundary. The fast bowler finally completed the over in his 11th ball after conceding 17 runs.
It was an anomaly of a fast bowler against GT. Archer has been sensational otherwise in the Indian Premier League with 15 goals from 10 matches. He has conceded runs at just 8.62 per match, making it among his best innings in the Indian Premier League this year.
Rajasthan Royals bowling coach Shane Bond agreed that Archer was out after returning from a short break. Rajasthan last played a match on May 1 against Delhi Capitals. The team took a mini-break during the 8 days where they did not play any competitive cricket.
“He’s just had one of those days. He’s had a couple of days off and it looked like he wasn’t in the groove,” RR bowling coach Shane Bond said.

Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans are currently placed fourth and fifth respectively in the points table of the Indian Premier League. After playing 10 matches, both teams are tied on points. Whoever wins this match will break away from zero in mid-table and will be fighting for a Top 4 finish this season.
