
As many as 10,798 cases were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat held across the undivided West Godavari district on December 13, 2025, according to District Chief Magistrate and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chairman YS Sridevi.
The National Lok Adalat was organized under the guidance of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Amaravati and Administrative Judge for the undivided West Godavari District Judge D. Ramesh. The program was conducted under the supervision of District Legal Services Office, Eluru.
A total of 34 Lok Adalat benches have been set up across the district to ensure smooth and efficient disposal of cases. These were nine benches in Eluru, four each in Bhimavaram, Kovvur and Narasapuram, three in Tanuk, four in Tadepalligudem, two in Jangareddygudem and one each in Palakollu, Nidadavole, Chintalapudi and Bhimadole.
Of the total number of cases handled, 10,351 were criminal cases, 153 were traffic accident cases (MACT) and 294 were civil cases. In addition, 238 pre-litigation cases were also settled through mutual settlement, which greatly reduced the burden on the courts and allowed litigants to receive speedy justice.
Breaking down by mandals, Ms. Sridevi said 1,988 cases were solved in Eluru, 974 in Bhimavaram, 1,248 in Chintalapudi, 971 in Jangareddygudem, 1,092 in Kovvur, 434 in Narasapuram, 434 in Palade4ligudem, 41, 458 1,082 in Tanuk, 919 in Nidadavole and 153 in Bhimadole.
The District Legal Services Office expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the National Lok Adalat, including judicial officers, advocates, police personnel, finance personnel, insurance company officials, bank officials, chit fund representatives, labor department officials, municipal staff, BSNL officials, district panchayat employees, transport, excise and railway officials, law officers, representatives of various media, officials from various agriculture departments and other personnel departments.
Ms. YS Sridevi, Presiding District Magistrate, and K. Ratna Prasad, Senior Civil Judge, District Legal Services Authority appreciated the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders in ensuring effective resolution of disputes through the Lok Adalat mechanism.
