The records show that Pochram was the first project to introduce the then Nizam of Hyderab, when he laid the foundation stone in Village in Nerdypet in 1917 in the Kameddy district. The Nizam government built a guest house near the Pochraram project.
The project was created with a capacity of 2,423 TMC and was built at a price of 27.11 GBP Lakh. It was completed in 1922 to serve the needs of the water Nagieddipet and Yellareddy Mandals in the Kameddy and Medak Mandal in the Medak district. Due to the creation of mud, the capacity of project storage decreased to 1.82 TMC.
Over the past 103 years, this project has served the needs of irrigation and drinking water of Nizamabad and Medak District. The whole project was built with the limestone of Nizama government and its length continued 1.7 km with 21 feet high union through Manchippa Brook. The project has a 58 km long channel and 73 distributions. The Ayacut has 10,500 acres as part of this project, the distributions of the projects are divided into zones A and B.
The project is also a popular destination for tourism for visitors from Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka, who also attacked the sanctuary. The project is 110 km from Hyderabad, 50 km from Kamedda and 130 km from the Nizamabad district headquarters.
