100 years of BCCI! Indian cricket board to form committee for grand year round celebrations

BCCI office at the 95th Annual General Meeting The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will complete 100 years in 2028 and plans to form a committee to organize year-long celebrations. The topic was raised for discussion during the final phase of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by an influential administrator and the functionaries unanimously agreed on the grand celebrations to begin in December 2027.“The General Body has started the process of celebrating the BCCI centenary in 2028. The centenary will be celebrated through a year-long program starting in December 2027 and continuing till 2028, marking a landmark in the history of Indian cricket.” read the media advisory.The administrator argued that the BCCI should think globally about the celebrations because of the role it has played in the growth of cricket in various regions.“We are talking about BCCI. 100 years is not an ordinary feat. It deserves the grandest celebration which needs to be carefully considered. Not a one-time thing. We should think about taking it global and plan it as early as December 2027,” the administrator said at a gathering at the BCCI headquarters on Friday.Apart from the centenary celebrations, the BCCI has decided that the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League – the 20th edition of the cash-rich league – will also be celebrated in a grand manner.“The general body has unanimously accepted the call to celebrate the upcoming 20th edition of IPL in 2027 in a grand manner,” read another statement in the 10-point recommendation.
