Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy said on Monday that the 100-day action plan is being adopted under the ‘Jala Dhara’ program and will enable the district to overcome water scarcity during the summer season and ensure adequate supply of water to agricultural fields in the next Kharif season. Talking to the media here, he said that the work would be carried out in four phases to achieve the desired objectives of the Jala Dhara programme.
According to him, government agencies would focus on the protection of water reservoirs, improvement of the groundwater level, strengthening of canals within the framework of this program. Officials from ministries like ground water, irrigation, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and others would work together to improve water resources at all levels.
Mr. Ramsundar Reddy said that the Jala Dhara program would benefit the villages to overcome water scarcity during the summer season. He hoped that irrigation water would be provided to the barren lands in the next Kharif season. He hoped that many local people would get jobs and livelihood opportunities under the scheme.
