10-year-old girl kidnapped, found murdered in tank near Coimbatore

A 10-year-old girl, who was reported missing on Thursday evening, was found dead in a Kannampalayam tank near her locality on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Friday.
The police are looking for two people suspected of involvement in the kidnapping and murder. They are also investigating whether she was sexually assaulted.
The girl, a Class V student of a government school, went missing on Thursday evening while she was playing near her residence. Although relatives and neighbors searched for the girl, they failed to trace her, after which they filed a complaint at the Sulur police station.
The girl was found dead in the tank on Friday. . The body was taken to a government hospital for post-mortem.
Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Allatipalli Pavan Kumar Reddy visited the crime scene and formed special teams to nab the culprits.
Meanwhile, residents from the girl’s neighborhood staged a road blockade on Tiruchi Road in front of the Sulur police station around 9 pm on Friday, demanding the arrest of the assailants. Traffic on the highway stopped for more than an hour due to the protest, after which the police diverted vehicles to an alternate route.
