The Chikkamagalura District Administration has created 10 teams that follow illegal transport and defeat of cows, buffalo and camels in the district before Bakrid celebrations.
Representative of Commissioner Meen Nagaraj said in a press release that teams would include officers from various departments, including the main officers of the city’s local authorities, Taluk Panchayat and the Ministry of Veterinary and Animal Breeding, except for the police.
Teams would be active between 5 and 10 June in all talkes. Officials would keep the card on the illegal transport of cattle and the slaughter of animals.

Meanwhile, Dantaramakki Srinivas of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti opposed the creation of teams to check the killing of cattle.
Mr. Srinivas said at a press conference in Chikkamagalur on Wednesday that people have the right to practice food habits of their choice. The decision of the administration would cause unrest in the company, he claimed.
He said the country exports beef. There was no restriction on the sale of beef in large cities. He demanded that the district administration to perform its decision.
