Major Genpact Technology and Services The decision to increase daily working hours to ten has caused the will from its employees and human resources (HR) experts who claim that this step is undermined by progressive value in the workplace. A large number of employees decided to kill on social media.
This change, announced internally 20 days ago, left many employees upset. In one of Hyderabad’s offices, the employee described the mood as tense. “I applied at 12 o’clock and wrapped myself within 9 pm, and that was too exhausting. Now I will have to start with the new policy at 11 am,” the employee said, demanding anonymity.
According to Genpact employees in Hyderabad, the implementation is planned in mid -June. “When the decision was announced, we were hoping to consider again after 15 days. But that didn’t happen, and now it’s too late,” the employee added.
Within the new system, employees explained that “productivity” will be monitored through an internal portal that follows the daily active clock. “If I threw the assigned time, I earn 500 points a month, which is worth 3,000 GBP. We have been told that 5% of that is 150 GBP in my case will be paid for additional time.
The manager involved in the recruitment stated on the condition of anonymity: “Working pressure is intense and wear is rising. I see that experienced employees walk every day and hire new faces. Management.”
Concerns were also broadcast on social media platforms. “This totally poor and the company increased working hours to 10, without increasing the salary,” one user Reddit wrote. “Not only do you have to finish“ Wam ”, which is basically an abusing tool that records the keys.
The veteran in the IT supported service, which launched his career in Genpact more than two decades ago, said the decision was contrary to the values on which the society was built. “I am afraid it will affect other companies, especially local companies to follow. HR did not act here as a voice of reason,” he said.
A powerful Achyut Menon search consultant said that this policy reflects a wider post-pandemic shift in business strategy. “After the pandemic has provided a large increase in salary, the company now thinks that they will overpay. So they bring hard politicians such as extended lessons and strict office mandates to make employees voluntarily, while hiring cheaper refunds,” he explained.
Mr. Menon added that automation accelerates this trend. “Longer hours are not an answer. The future belongs to organizations that invest in building skills, efficient work, fair compensation and respect to integrate working life, not those who require more time for slightly more remuneration.”
Genpact has been contacted for comment. The story will be updated after the answer.
