The final electoral rolls of Shivamogga constituency, released after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), have 13,54,046 voters, after deleting 1,89,166 voters, including those marked as ASDD (absent, permanently shifted, dead or duplicate, that is, already enrolled elsewhere) and those found ineligible during the process stage.

Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti told reporters in Shivamogga on Tuesday that the constituency had 15,19,459 voters on its roll as on June 16, 2026, when the voter roll was frozen. The draft voter list released on August 24 during the SIR exercise had 13,30,905 voters.

The Electoral Commission issued notices to 48,660 voters due to logical irregularities. Of these, 612 names were deleted, bringing the number down to 13,30,293.

Following the publication of the draft lists, the Commission accepted applications for new listings. As part of this process, 23,753 names were added, making the final list 13,54,046 voters. The electorate consists of 6,67,100 males, 6,86,921 females and 25 others.

The deputy commissioner clarified that during the investigation phase, officials interviewed all the persons concerned. In case of death, the death certificate was verified, in cases of permanent transfer, a proper mahazar was performed.

He said there were no cases of mass filing of Form 7 applications to clear names. “We received 3,517 Form 7 applications, of which 1,675 were rejected because the information or documents provided were insufficient,” he said.

Shivamogga Assembly constituency recorded the highest number of ASDD deletions with 56,432, followed by Bhadravati (40,571). The numbers in other constituencies were: Shikaripur (23,093), Sagar (19,026), Shivamogga Rural (18,586), Sorab (16,209) and Tirthahalli (14,637).

The Deputy Commissioner said that any person aggrieved by the order of the Election Registration Office (ERO) can appeal to the District Magistrate under Section 24(c). (a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. If the appellant is not satisfied with the order of the District Magistrate, a second appeal may be made to the Chief Electoral Officer.

Apart from revising the voter list, the Election Commission also rationalized the polling stations. 93 polling stations were added to the existing 1,793, taking the total to 1,886. “We have ensured that no polling station has more than 1,200 voters,” the deputy commissioner said.

Another Deputy Commissioner Abhishek V was also present at the press conference.
