Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy announced on Friday (February 6, 2026) that the government has released funds of ₹ 236 crore for the development of the constituency and that the work will begin soon.

The project involves the laying of a 200 km long pipeline to connect all the merged villages in the predominantly rural constituency. Water reservoirs will be constructed at a cost of ₹ 125 crore in Parameswari Nagar, YSR Nagar, Akkacheruvupadu and Ambapuram to relieve backward areas of drinking water crisis.

Similarly, ₹111 crore would be used to lay 51 km of underground drainage system (UDS) in six divisions of Nellore city.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Sridhar Reddy recalled that his pleas for sanction of funds fell to nil during the erstwhile YSR Congress Party regime, but the NDA government responded quickly and sanctioned funds in abundance, giving concrete shape to his dream of Nellore Rural becoming a “developed constituency”.

He thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, District Ministers P. Narayan and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, District In-charge Minister N. Md. Farook and Member of Parliament Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy for their positive intervention in getting sanctions. Mr. Sridhar Reddy announced that the work would be formally set in motion soon.
