The Government of Andhra Pradesh has given an administrative sanction of ₹10,120.78 crore for the implementation of the Thalliki Vandanamscheme for the academic year 2026–27. A GO to this effect was published on Thursday.
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance of ₹15,000 per annum to eligible mothers or guardians of students studying from Class I to Intermediate in recognized government, aided, unaided and residential educational institutions across the state. A total of 67.47 million students and 42.70 million mothers or guardians are expected to benefit from the scheme.
From the amount sanctioned, ₹2,000 per student will be deducted at source and used to improve the educational ecosystem, including maintenance of schools and lower schools, sanitation, hygiene and related infrastructure. The beneficiary pool includes 64.76 million verified students, 59,500 expected new Class I admissions, 56,100 projected Junior Intermediate admissions and about 1.55 million cases pending verification or correction of records.
The government has also made special provisions under the scheme. In the case of students admitted to private schools under the Right to Education Act, the prescribed tuition fees will be adjusted first and any remaining amount will be transferred to the beneficiary. Similarly, students receiving pre-matriculation and post-matriculation scholarships under centrally sponsored schemes will receive the balance amount after adjustment of scholarship benefits. Cases missing household details or other required details will be deleted after verification, the GO said.
Complaints
The first phase of payments to verified beneficiaries is scheduled for July 22, 2026, along with the publication of lists of eligible and ineligible beneficiaries. Complaints will be accepted until August 3rd, followed by verification and preparation of supplementary lists between August 4th and August 10th. Fresh admission in Class I and Junior Intermediate will be considered till 25th August and final supplementary list of beneficiaries along with allowances will be published on 30th August 2026.
